Summer styles that will make your arms looks great

As we hit the hottest days of summer, so many clients ask what to wear to cover their arms and beat the heat. It is one area that seems to bother so many women, myself included as I have aged. The truth of the matter, people are likely not looking at your arms.

If it troubles you don’t despair, there are so many ways to camouflage your arms with clothing and keep your cool.  Some of my favorites....

Elbow Length Sleeves - This will cover the top half of your arm and highlight your firm forearms and smaller in proportion wrists. JCrew has great elbow length tees.

Off the Shoulder Tops –Most women have great shoulders, let's show them off.  It is a very slimming look to balance out your body. You can pull it up just at the top of your shoulder, or if you feel sassy pull it down a bit lower on your arm.

Ruffles – You can wear a sleeveless blouse with a slight ruffle and suddenly your arms are not the focus. There are so many options and tremendous sales.

Kimonos or Light Cardigans– This is a chic way to wear a sleeveless top and add some interest. I love Kimonos and wear mine with denim shorts or jeans and a sleeveless tee.  An extra bonus, the flow of the Kimono is very forgiving of any extra weight around the middle.

Go Sheer or Light – Another way to disguise weight on your arms is a sheer sleeve. The fabric can breathe and still look very chic. Also stay away from darker colored fabrics as they make your arms look bigger.

Want to avoid arm jiggle all together…try Arm Tights by Spanx. They quickly hold everything together and can be layered under a sheer blouse or longer sleeves. These are also great in the winter with fitted sweaters.

Feeling no need to camouflage your arms and sport a cute sleeveless top? There are also things we can do to improve the look of our skin around the arms.

Using a self tanner along with a great moisturizer works magic.  I love the Isle of Paradise drops. It is the most natural one I have tried and you simply add a few drops to your lotion.

Exfoliate – I keep an exfoliating hand mitt in the shower for my legs and arms.  There are also so many wonderful scrubs.

Lastly, the one I seem to fight the most….upper arm strength workouts. I can run miles and miles but can’t seem to do a few push-ups. Saggy skin can tighten up very quickly with focused strength training a few times a week.

My favorite fashionista of all time was my Mom. I know what she would say….wear the sleeveless top and embrace the body you have. Life is too short to worry about the small stuff.

Let's step through summer with ease and grace. I look forward to helping you clear the clutter, maximize your wardrobe, shine a little brighter, and feel fabulous every day!!
